Tetra

the Icelandic government and Reykjavik municipality in august 1999.
From the very beginning of TETRA operations in Iceland, it was decided
by the government to allow commercial traffic on the public safety frequency
band for TETRA in Iceland. This fact has made it possible to develop
a TETRA network in Iceland which is foreseen to be economical to operate
a TETRA system in Iceland, spite the small population in the country.
TETRA networks current coverage is 46 TETRA base stations and will increase
in year 2002 to 86 base stations, which should cover around 60% of Iceland
and most of the coastline. The aim is to develop the system to a full
nationwide public safety and professional communications
