Employing the latest in mobile and Web technology, My Buddy Tracker allows the mobile Internet generation to locate, monitor and communicate with friends and family. Simple and fun to use, the system enables users to create a strong sense of community and identity, and combines entertainment and practical value in an attractive mobile application.

Users begin by registering for the service through the IcelandTelecom website, and then access it using their mobile phone (SMS or SIM ToolKit) or the Internet. Location is presented as a text message on a mobile phone, or as a circle on a map on the Web. Information in a text message refers to well-known local landmarks or points of interest, i.e. "Jon is in the vicinity of the Perlan complex, Reykjavik"

Throughout My Buddy Tracker's development, privacy and security have been key elements in every aspect of its design. Each subscriber must specifically give another user permission to locate and contact him or her, and users retain full control of their privacy at all times.
