CPS and Trackwell To Target Enterprises and Operators With Joint Mobile Location Solutions
May 2005

CPS (Cambridge Positioning Systems Ltd), leaders in GSM and WCDMA location technology, and location based service specialists Trackwell today announce plans to jointly market their respective solutions to operators and enterprises.

The two companies will work together to promote each other’s offerings and collaborate on service and technology deployments with operators – specifically in Europe and the Middle east but with future plans to build on existing CPS deployments in China and Latin America.

Trackwell, based in Iceland, has already secured contracts with major operators, government bodies and enterprises in Europe and North America ,for its range of customised software solutions. Recently, the company also won a contract to provide its Tracscape fleet management platform to an Operator in the Middle East.

CPS’s Matrix technolgy can underpin a full range of location-based applications in both GSM and WCMDA. Software-only, Matrix is now being integrated into a number of devices and has recently been deployed in China to support enterprise asset tracking applications.

Trackwell Business Development Director Bergur Thórisson said: “Trackwell has extensive experience and knowledge in designing, developing and operating all kinds of value-added services for mobile operators through its close cooperation with local and international operators. The quality of the location has everything to do with what kind of applications can be built and the quality of service that can be delivered. CPS’s Matrix technology is a milestone in mobile location and partnering with CPS is a key step for us to participate in the mainstream of events.“

CPS CEO Chris Wade said: “The success of location based services in the enterprise market is being driven by low cost, easy to deploy technology married to compelling applications that already have traction in the marketplace. Trackwell has already demonstrated its ability to build market share in Europe and we look forward to collaborating with them in working with existing customers and new opportunities which are opening up in high growth mobile markets like China and Latin America.”
